Ember is a project that combines the programs of a theatre and a crematorium which explores the themes of focus, reflection, confrontation, escape, warmth, transcendence, and life. The project aims to create a space that is both reflective and engaging, where people can come to contemplate the meaning of life and death in a safe and isolated environment. The architectural ambitions of Ember are both ambitious and inspiring. The project aims to create a space that is both beautiful and functional, with a focus on the element of fire as its driving force. In a crematorium, fire is a powerful and evocative force that symbolizes the end of life. In a theatre, fire is a source of light and direction for theatrical presentations. The use of fire as a central theme in Ember creates a powerful and meaningful connection between the two programs.
